Story of origin…what on earth is AXIS Live?
It all started with a conversation over lunch, and this question…
“What would you do with your life, if you never had to worry about money ever again?”

So here’s the story:
So the three of us, Joey, Jeremy, and Clint, spent a sweet summer after college traveling through countries that others thought were dangerous. Sounds like an crazy thing to do, huh? Funny thing was that we were continually struck by how warm, friendly, and receptive the people we met were — finding tons of friends that we laughed and bonded with as we traveled.
Over a year later, Clint and Joey were eating lunch at Guru’s and asked each other this question: “If we never had to worry about money again, what would we want to spend our lives doing?”
Several great ideas came, but especially one that struck us both both as dynamite. ‘Why don’t we do something good as we travel, help bring more trust and fun into the world on a larger scale?’ We thought about how many negative labels people place on each other, each group calling the other group evil, without really even getting to know them. We asked, ‘What really is evil?’ and how can we challenge the perceptions that are so often just based in either fear and/or ignorance. And why not start with the countries which were labeled “The Axis of Evil”?
Wow — we just were struck by how much the world needs this now, and is perhaps more open to it than ever before!
When you turn the word “Evil” backwards, it reads “Live” — and thus was born AXIS Live!
Although we are more connected technologically with people around the world than ever before, there is still so much fear, distrust, misunderstanding, and a tendency to label those who are different as evil, bad, wrong, etc. While we were chomping down sweet potato fries, we discussed the fear people felt, and the real need there was to highlight the common humanity that unites us (& how even the differences can serve to benefit us all). It became obvious how passionate we were about it.
All three (Joey, Jeremy, and Clint) were surprised when within two weeks they had received significant funding (from someone who loved the idea and wanted to make sure it happened), and how support and momentum continued to come from sources around the world.
As they prepare for this journey, they want you to join the conversations “Live” online, and in theaters, with people they laugh and learn with along the way.
We have experience distributing messages and involving more people in the discussion using social media outlets, as well as capturing more of it on film for a formal documentary. But the whole point of this is to involve YOU in participating in the discussions, contributing your own thoughts and videos, and even letting us help you get to travel the world to really know people in a different way than ever before.
